One of the great privileges of my life has been the opportunity to work on projects with teams.
Being a part of those projects helped me to appreciate that things are not done by the power of the individual - it is achieved with the help of those who see a need and fill it. Observing the way that my parents were natural helpers certainly influenced the tendency I’ve had to help out. They were the sort of wholehearted helpers who left everything in what they were doing. It’s a trait that I see in my siblings as well. Sacrificially, they’ll offer help to ensure that the job gets done. That’s been influential on me.
As if that wasn’t enough of a hint, God gave me a wife, a woman devoted to helping others. Devoted. It takes much for her to see herself as anything other than a helper.
One of the enjoyable things about walking with Jesus is that I’m never too far from a Kingdom project that needs helpers. It’s one thing to get stuck in and offer help; it’s even more delightful when people recognise the need and see the opportunity to help me.
I am grateful for any help I get, and I’ve learnt to appreciate that help in its various forms: people who like and leave comments on the blogs, people interacting with the content on the website, people engaging with the content on TikTok and YouTube, and people who engage in conversations offline, those who generously give to the cause, the people who God sends for a brief season to be a source of encouragement and motivation. I’m grateful for any help I can get on the Kingdom projects I work on.
