Day 34 (Kingdom Series) – Prayer for the King’s Agenda

By Authrine Dryden

Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6: 9-10 NLT

Community Prayer

A small community group gathers each Tuesday evening to discuss ways they can bring positive change to their city. They begin by reflecting together on their values of compassion, justice, and mutual support, centring their intentions on serving a greater purpose. As they share ideas and listen to each other, they feel a renewed sense of calling to uplift vulnerable members of their neighbourhood.

One evening, they talk about how they might help a local school facing resource shortages and safety concerns. Inspired, a few members volunteer their time and collect supplies for the school, building relationships with staff and students. Over time, their small acts of service contribute to creating a safer, more supportive environment at the school. Through their unity and commitment to shared ideals, the community group begins to see a vision of positive transformation taking root.

In a world of complex challenges, it’s easy to feel unsure of how to make a difference. For one small community group, the journey toward positive change began with a simple yet powerful commitment: praying together with a focus on God’s Kingdom and His will. Grounded in the words of Matthew 6:9-10, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,” the group gathers weekly, asking for God’s guidance as they seek to bring His vision for justice, peace, and love into their city.

Each Tuesday, they open their time with prayer, setting aside personal agendas and aligning themselves with the desire to serve a greater purpose. Together, they ask God to reveal ways they can act as His hands and feet, serving the vulnerable and advocating for those who feel forgotten. One evening, their prayers led them to a local school facing resource shortages and safety concerns. Moved by a sense of calling, a few members volunteered and collected supplies, hoping to create a more supportive environment for students.

Through these simple acts, empowered by prayer, they begin to see small glimpses of transformation. Relationships with teachers, students, and other community members grow, bringing about a sense of hope and belonging. What started as a weekly prayer group has evolved into a united effort to carry out God’s agenda—a partnership to bring His Kingdom values to life. For those inspired to make an impact, this story offers a precise path: pray for God’s will, seek His guidance, and take small, faithful steps toward His Kingdom vision. With prayer as the foundation, each act of service becomes part of a greater purpose—an answer to the prayer that heaven might touch the earth.

Ask: What does it mean to pray for God’s Kingdom to come to earth?

Seek: Where are there specific needs around us that God is calling us to serve?

Knock: What actions can we take, with faith, to open doors for Your Kingdom to come here on earth?
